Parent and Carer Peer Support (PCPS)

White curve

Welcome! What is parent and carer peer support (PCPS)?

On this page you can sign up to be the first to know about our upcoming fully funded training to become a parent peer support worker and our fast-approaching New Maudsley workshops for parents of young people with eating disorders.

Looking after a child can be challenging, and even more so when they're struggling with their mental health. Here at Charlie Waller, we believe one of the best ways to get support for yourself as a parent is through other parents who have been through it. We offer a network of support groups all around the UK called the PLACE Network - click below to find out more.

Commissioners who are interested in discussing how they could introduce PCPS in their areas please email us at place@charliewaller.org.

Caring for a loved one with an eating disorder

New Maudsley Approach (NMA) carer skills workshops for parents and carers

We understand that caring for someone with an eating disorder can be very challenging. We will soon be running new carer skills workshops offering evidence based techniques to help parents and carers become a ‘Change Coach’ for their loved one.

The workshops will include:

  • Dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Specialised communication skills
  • Avoiding traps that may maintain the disorder
  • Supporting recovery

Want to hear more about these workshops? Please register your interest and we will be in touch with more information.
